After the March rainfall, the rest of the year until September was very dry, with no rain and a particularly hot summer. To extend the ripening season, straw was used in the vineyard, as a result, the soil temperature dropped by 18°Centigrade. Overall 2011 was a warm vintage producing bold, spicy and structured wines.

This is a great food pairing wine, should go well with a wide range of dishes especially braised lamb or beef with Porcini mushrooms, bone marrow or pepper sauce.
