Viticulture

Vineyard: Bush vines planted on a south facing slope.
Soil Type: Klapmuts, Wasbank, Cartref.
Vine Age: 14 years old.
Irrigation: Drip Method
Harvest Date:
Yield: 8 tons/ha.

Vinification:

Almost 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Merlot.
Harvested at 25 balling, hand-picked and delicately crushed. Cold-soaked through the night. Inoculated the next morning, pump-overs every four hours. Lightly pressed and matured in French oak barrels for 15 months.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Light reddish color.
Nose: Ripe red and black fruits, smokey with herbal notes and some pencil shavings.
Palate: Raspberry, plum with hints of spice, firm and balanced tanins, elegant finish.
Other: Pairs well with tomato sauce based pastas, grilled red meat or rich winter stews.
