Viticulture

Vineyard: Bush vines planted on a south facing slope.
Soil Type: Klapmuts, Escourt, Cartref and Bokkefvelt shale.
Vine Age: 12 years old.
Irrigation: Drip Method

Yield: 7 t/ha.

Vinification:

The vineyard is located in Bot River, Walker Bay. The vine density is
4000 per hectare.
Harvested at 25 balling, handpicked and delicately crushed. Cold
soaked through the night. Fermentation was started the next morning,
pump overs every 4 hours. Lightly pressed and matured in french oak
barrels for 18 months.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Dark cherry.
Nose: Dried prunes, wild cherries with a blend of cinnamon
and clove on the nose.
Palate: An assortment of berries with strawberries and
raspberries, subtly spiced, gentle wood smoke from
the used oak barrel aging.
Other: This Pinotage will go well with smoked duck, pulled
pork, spicy BBQ or any meaty pizza.
