Viticulture

Vineyard: High density plantation with 4000 vine / ha.
Soil Type: Clay-calcareous soil poor in organic matter, nutrients and mineral salts, with an abundance of pebbles, remains of alluvium and gravel.

Harvest Date: October 2012.
Yield: Low yielding vineyards.

Vinification:

This is a blend of 80% Tempranillo and 20% Grenache. Fermented in stainless steel tanks over seven days at 26ºCentigrade and macerated on the skins over three days. Aged for four months in American oak barrels before bottling.
The Rioja climate is marked with the influence from the Atlantic Ocean to the West and Mediterranean sea from the Eastern side. Winters are relatively humid and cold, frost isn't uncommon, summers show high variations in day and night temperatures resulting in increased polyphenols and therefore producing high quality wines.
The vineyards are mainly located in the region around Viana, north east of Logroño towards Navarra and this region benefits from a mild Mediterranean climate with the influence from the Atlantic Ocean.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Bright cherry and violet hues.
Nose: Rich fruity aromas and spices.
Palate: Well balanced, rich and fruity with subtle wood integration.
Other: Great pairing with grilled or roasted meats as well as winter stews.
