Viticulture

Vineyard:
Soil Type: Tafelberg sandstone soils with gravel underground.
Vine Age: 14 years old.
Irrigation: Drip Method
Harvest Date: Feb 2009
Yield: Below 6 tons per hectare.

Vinification:

Grapes were handpicked and cold soaked for 24 hours to obtain the desired color and flavor, fermentation is started with selected yeasts strains under controlled conditions at 26 °C. Malolactic fermentation also took place in tank and was matured for six months on French and American oak staves.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Bright red
Nose: Aromas of red fruit, spice and Christmas cake.
Palate: A medium bodied wine with an intense red colour and typical aromas of ripe strawberries and plums. Well balanced with soft oak and vanilla.
Other: This Pinotage will pair well with a mild lamb curry or any dish complemented with a little spice.
