Nestled in the Citrusdal Mountains, some 50 kilometers north of Swartland, is the magnificent Piekenierskloof plateau, which provides the perfect natural environment for vineyards to thrive. At 750 meters above sea level, the plateau’s climate is characterized by warm days and cool nights, which allow grapes to slowly ripen and develop complex fruity flavors. The Chenin Blanc vineyard was planted in 1962, the Grenache Blanc in 1994 and the Chardonnay in 1998. These vineyards are all bush vines and grow on sandy, loam soils. The vineyards are meticulously farmed and managed to yield below 5 tons per hectare.
Six principles form the core of the Six Hats philosophy,
"Partnership, Potential, Change, Equity, Dignity and Sustainability".
Six Hats seeks to produce wines that will contribute to the lives of
the people whose hard work is expressed in each bottle. There are
minimum prices set for grapes and an additional percentage of the
sales are given back to the community who uses the money to build
schools, clinics and other projects to improve their lives.
This is a blend of 65% Chenin, 20% Grenache Blanc and 15% Chardonnay.
Grapes were handpicked very early in the morning allowing the fruit to retain their natural flavor. Only the free run juice was used, allowed to settle and inoculated with selected yeast strains, fermented in new and second fill 500 liters French and American oak barrels. The wine spent 4 months on its lees.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Bright light straw.
Nose: Complex with layers of tropical and stone fruit, peach and white pears.
Palate: Citrus and notes of ripe fruits combined with a well-balanced acidity. The oak is well integrated, with a long, lingering finish.
Other: Will go well with a seafood paella, sushi, fish curry, mussels, grilled scallops or chicken, it is also just as enjoyable on its own.
